Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated.Confucius
In our modern age, with our fast-paced lifestyles and ever-increasing demands, the importance of well-being cannot be overstated. At St. Mary's we believe that achieving and maintaining well-being is crucial for all pupils and staff to lead a fulfilling and positive life. Our well-being encompasses various aspects of our lives including a positive attitude, good diet, regular exercise, time for hobbies, time for learning new things and limiting screen time.
Change your thinking, change your life.
A positive attitude is a powerful tool that allows us to navigate challenges with resilience and optimism.
We promote good mental well-being and aim to cultivate a constructive and positive outlook on life.
A good diet and regular exercise contribute to physical health, enhancing energy levels, and reducing the risk of diseases.
Engaging in our hobbies and pursuing our personal interests provides a much-needed break from routine, fostering creativity, relaxation, and a sense of accomplishment.
Most importantly, in our daily lives, we can all be kind to each other.
I think probably kindness is my number one attribute in a human being. I'll put it before any of the things like courage or bravery or generosity or anything else.
Learning new things not only expands knowledge but also stimulates the mind and promotes personal growth.
We believe that limiting screen time is crucial in the digital age to maintain a healthy balance and prevent potential adverse effects on mental and physical health.
Promoting well-being among all in our school community lays the foundation for a happier, healthier, and more fulfilling life.
Having a positive mental attitude is asking how something can be done rather than saying it can't be done.
We believe that promoting well-being is essential for our pupils' personal development and academic success.
We recognise that our pupils' mental health and well-being are just as important as their physical health, and we strive to create a positive and supportive environment in St. Mary's where our pupils can thrive.
To promote wellness, we host an annual Well-being Week where we focus on activities and discussions centered around mental health and well-being, including mindfulness exercises, exercise classes, and discussions on topics such as stress management and healthy habits.
We believe that promoting wellness goes beyond just one week of the year, which is why we integrate well-being practices into our daily routines and curriculum. Our teachers incorporate mindfulness exercises into their lessons, and we encourage our pupils to practise gratitude, kindness, and love towards themselves and others.
To further promote well-being, we have a Well-being Wall where our pupils can display art and positive affirmations. This provides a visual reminder of the importance of self-care and helps to create a positive and supportive environment.
We have a Well-being Walk in our playground, this walk features permanent weather proof poster boards with positive affirmations for all.
We also display positive affirmations on display screens in the corridor.
At St. Mary's, we understand that promoting well-being is crucial for our pupils' personal growth and academic success. We are committed to creating a supportive environment that promotes mental health and well-being and provides our pupils with the tools and support they need to thrive.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
