HSCL Teacher
Niamh Mc Gonigle is the Home School Community Liaison (HSCL) teacher in St. Mary’s. Niamh is dedicated to supporting pupils and their families in a variety of ways.
One of her primary focuses is on pupil support and attendance, she works to identify and address any issues that may be preventing pupils from attending school regularly and she ensures that they receive the support they need to succeed academically.
Niamh is also available to liaise with parents and guardians. She provides a valuable point of contact for those who have questions or concerns about their child's education. Niamh is always happy to arrange home visits to discuss any issues in person.
Encouraging involvement in school life is another important part of Niamh's role, she works hard to help parents feel connected to the school community. This can involve everything from organising events and activities that bring families together, to hosting courses for parents in St. Mary's and providing support for school transitions. Niamh organises training and talks for parents on a range of topics related to personal development and to supporting their child's learning and development.
Niamh's goal is to help ensure that all pupils have the support and resources they need to achieve their full potential. By working closely with families and the wider community, she helps to foster a culture of engagement and collaboration that benefits everyone involved.
When we held our one hundred and fifty year celebrations in 2017, many former pupils fondly recalled the steps that linked our school with Park St. Pupils would run across the concrete landings and jump down the steps. The steps were a direct link to the streets of the town.
